I saw somewhere that the tiffany aching series was targeted at young readers but if so it in no way took away from pratchett inestimable style ive pretty much exhausted the discworld series so now im starting on the tiffany aching series hope the wee free men of the title show up in later books. Fans of the original wont find faults tiffany looks like a true nine year old and the blue skinned wee free men seem appropriately fierce and funny at the same time three well chosen foldouts show key plot transitions as tiffany first sees the wee free men later steps into the fairy world and ultimately unleashes her full powers. Tiffany aching is a tremendous character the equal to granny weatherwax in her own way this combined volume wee free men and hat full of sky are excellent additions to the discworld books but are equally good as stand alone ya novels. The wee free men is a 2003 comic fantasy novel by british writer terry pratchett which takes place in his discworld setting it is labelled a story of discworld to indicate its status as childrens or young adult fiction unlike most of the books in the discworld seriesa sequel a hat full of sky appeared in 2004 both books were republished in a combined edition the wee free men the . The wee free men is the first book in the tiffany aching subseries of discworld calling it young adult might be a stretch since the protagonist is nine and i thought the story seemed suitable for a younger audience on the other hand as with many children protagonists she probably behaved as if she were older than a typical nine year old
